Addressing security challenges require holistic approach — Minister
The Minister of Defence, retired Gen. Christopher Musa, says addressing security challenges in Nigeria requires holistic approach.
This is contained in a statement on Tuesday in Abuja, by Leah Katung-Babatunde, his Special Assistant on Media.
According to Katung-Babatunde, the minister said this when he received the General Overseer of The Lord’s Chosen Charismatic Revival Ministries, Pastor Lazarus Muoka, on a courtesy visit to the Ministry of Defence Headquarters, Abuja.
Musa said that the fight against insurgency, banditry, terrorism, and other forms of criminality required a whole-of-society approach.
He noted that the prayers and encouragement from religious bodies had continued to boost the morale of troops deployed in various theatres of operation nationwide.
He expressed appreciation to the cleric and members of the church for their sustained prayers and unwavering support for Nigeria’s security institutions.
“The Armed Forces remain committed to defending the nation’s territorial integrity and safeguarding the lives and property of all Nigerians,” he said.
The minister called on religious leaders across the country to continue promoting peace, unity, patriotism, and national cohesion.
He noted that faith-based organisations had strategic roles to play in fostering harmony and supporting national security efforts.
Earlier in his remarks, Muoka assured the minister of the church’s continued support for the armed forces and the Federal Government.
