President Bola Tinubu has felicitated Muslims in Nigeria and worldwide on the Islamic New Year, 1st Muharram 1448AH, urging patriotism and responsible citizenship.

This is contained in a statement issued by the Presidential Spokesperson, Mr Bayo Onanuga, on Tuesday in Abuja.

As Muslims mark the beginning of a new Hijri year on Tuesday, Tinubu reflected on the virtues of the Hijrah, the migration from Mecca to Madina, which marks the commencement of the Islamic calendar.

He said the lessons of sacrifice, renewal, patience and faith in Allah’s divine plan remain vital to building a peaceful, just and prosperous nation.

The president urged Nigerians, particularly the Muslim faithful, to rededicate themselves to the ideals of good citizenship through acts of kindness, tolerance, honesty and devotion to duty.

According to him, such values are essential for strengthening national unity, security and development.

Tinubu prayed that the new Islamic year would bring peace, blessings and prosperity to every household and that Allah would continue to guide Nigeria on the path of progress.
