An Ado-Ekiti Chief Magistrates’ Court on Thursday remanded a 40-year-old man, Musa Wahab, in a Correctional Centre for allegedly raping a 23-year-old woman.

The Chief Magistrate, Mrs Kehinde Awosika, who did not take the plea of Wahab, ordered that the case file should be sent to the Director of Public Prosecutions for advice.

Awosika adjourned the case until Aug. 10 for mention.

The defendant, whose address was not provided, is facing a charge of rape.

Earlier, the Prosecutor, Insp Elijah Adejare, told the court that the defendant committed the offence on July 6 in Agbado-Ekiti.

Oriyomi alleged that the defendant threatened the woman with a cutlass and raped her on her way from the farm.

He said that the defendant was caught by some passersby and handed over to the police.

The prosecutor said that the offence contravened Section 265(1) of the Criminal Law of Ekiti State, 2021.
