Funke Akindele announces release date for new film ‘The Four’

Nollywood actress and filmmaker Funke Akindele has announced that her highly anticipated feature film, “The Four: No One Fights Alone”, would be released in cinemas on Dec. 11.

Our correspondent reports that the veteran filmmaker announced the project on Monday in a post on her verified Instagram page @funkejenifaakindele.

The post reads: “IT’S GO TIME!!!

“On your mark… Get set…GO!!!!

“The relay is ON, and the Funke Akindele Network movie for 2026 is officially… THE FOUR.

“The baton has been passed. The announcement has been made.

“Now… shall we begin?

“It’s time to introduce you to THE FOUR. In all cinemas nationwide.”

According to her, the film is produced by Funke Akindele Network (FAAN TV) and distributed by FilmOne Entertainment.

“The Four” is an emotionally charged drama exploring friendship, motherhood, resilience and the strength of ordinary women.

Its plot explores themes of courage, faith, sacrifice and loyalty, while highlighting Nigeria’s cultural identity through music, fashion, language and tradition.

The film features an ensemble cast including Akindele, Bisola Aiyeola, Chioma Akpotha, Richard Mofe-Damijo, Timini Egbuson, Lateef Adedimeji, Ali Nuhu, Uzor Arukwe, Ronke Oshodi Oke, Antar Laniyan and Wunmi Toriola.

Others are Waje, Afrobeats artiste Shoday, Samuel Banks, Kolapo Omotosho and Ayomide Iwasokun.

Funke’s previous productions include Omo Ghetto: The Saga, Battle on Buka Street, A Tribe Called Judah, Everybody Loves Jenifa and Behind The Scenes, among others.

Through her filmmaking, she has continued to contribute to Nigeria’s creative industry, producing commercially successful stories that promote Nigerian culture, entertain audiences and inspire emerging filmmakers.
