2027: Tinubu’s achievements will speak for him, earn APC victory – Olabanji-Oba
Mrs Folashade Olabanji-Oba, member, Lagos State Local Government Service Commission, says the All Progressives Congress (APC) will hinge its 2027 election campaign on the achievements and policies of President Bola Tinubu’s administration rather than attacking the opposition.
Olabanji-Oba disclosed during an interview with our reporter in Lagos, on Monday.
She said that Nigerians deserved a campaign centred on verifiable results and development.
“We are campaigning with positive results of President Bola Tinubu’s great policies, not name-calling.
“Nigerians deserve to hear what has been achieved, what is being done differently and how these policies are creating opportunities for a greater future,” she said.
She added that political campaigns should provide voters with facts about government policies, programmes and projects while allowing political parties to present their competing visions for the country.
“We should campaign with facts, figures, projects and the experiences of ordinary Nigerians.
“Where there are challenges, we should acknowledge them and explain the solutions, and where there are achievements, we should communicate them clearly,” she said.
Olabanji-Oba said that the Tinubu administration inherited significant economic and structural challenges.
He, however, said the President had demonstrated the political will to implement reforms aimed at repositioning the economy and creating opportunities for Nigerians.
“The administration has shown the political will to take difficult decisions, and Nigerians should assess the policies and reforms based on their impact on the economy and society,” she said.
The APC chieftain identified infrastructure, transportation, investment, energy, healthcare, education and economic management as some of the areas where the administration’s policies should be evaluated ahead of the 2027 elections.
“These are areas that directly affect the lives of ordinary Nigerians, and our campaign should explain what is being done, the results recorded and what more needs to be achieved,” she said.
She called for stronger collaboration between the Federal Government and state governments to harness Nigeria’s human and natural resources for sustainable economic and industrial development.
“Nigeria is truly blessed and loaded with great resources, and with sustained investment and stronger collaboration between the Federal Government and the states, we can unlock greater opportunities for our people,” she said.
Olabanji-Oba urged APC members, support groups and other political actors to engage Nigerians peacefully and responsibly during the electioneering period, warning against inflammatory rhetoric capable of deepening political divisions.
“We must engage and participate peacefully. We all matter and are first and foremost family, irrespective of our political differences,” she said.
She said that the 2027 elections should provide Nigerians with an opportunity to make informed decisions based on performance, credibility, policies and competing ideas rather than personal attacks.
“The 2027 election should be about Nigeria’s future, not political name-calling. Our responsibility is to tell Nigerians what President Tinubu’s administration is doing, present the results and allow the people to make an informed decision,” she said.
The APC chieftain reaffirmed her support for Tinubu and APC candidates, saying the party would continue to mobilise citizens around the Renewed Hope Agenda through constructive engagement and grassroots mobilisation.
“I remain one hundred per cent committed to supporting President Tinubu and APC candidates, and we will continue to communicate the Renewed Hope Agenda responsibly to Nigerians,” she said.
