NDDC: Abia APC stakeholders back representative

Stakeholders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ukwa West Local Government Area of Abia have distanced themselves from a social media publication against Chief Dimgba Eruba.

Eruba represents Abia on the Board of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC).

Chief Don Ubani, Chairman of APC Stakeholders in Ukwa West, read the communique after their meeting on Monday at the party office in Obehie.

The communique was signed by 58 stakeholders, including the party’s LGA executive members and ward chairmen.

Signatories included Chief Success Enyinnaya, Chairman; Chief Chukwudi Ekeke, Deputy Chairman; Mrs Happiness Ahukanna, Woman Leader; and Chidiebere Iheme, Youth Leader.

The stakeholders described the publication as “unwarranted, misleading and malicious”, alleging that it was aimed at tarnishing Eruba’s integrity and competence.

They said some members also appeared on national television on Aug. 25 to promote the allegations, which they described as sponsored attempts to mislead the public.

The stakeholders reaffirmed Ukwa West APC’s loyalty to President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda and commitment to securing victory for the party in 2027.

They said the current political period required “unity and strategy”, rather than distractions over political appointments, noting that board tenures were still running.

On allegations of project diversion to Bende LGA, the stakeholders said they would not condone any action that shortchanged Ukwa West.

However, they said no conclusion would be drawn on the allegation without verifiable evidence to substantiate the claims.

The stakeholders alleged that the individual behind the division joined APC in February 2026 after leaving another political party.

They expressed satisfaction with Eruba’s efforts to attract projects to Ukwa West, saying the projects aligned with the state’s quota.

They also dismissed claims that the NDDC had not installed solar street lights in Ukwa West communities, describing the allegation as false and malicious.

The stakeholders expressed optimism that Eruba would attract more dividends of democracy, citing his humility and cordial relationship with NDDC management.

They urged party members not to be distracted, stressing that “all hands must be on deck” to ensure APC’s victory in 2027.

In separate remarks, the stakeholders praised Eruba’s performance and pledged continued support for him.

It was reported that some APC stakeholders in Ukwa West had appealed to President Bola Tinubu to appoint one Odinakachi Nwankwo to the NDDC Board.

The group had, during a solidarity rally, alleged that the NDDC had done little for the area in spite of Ukwa West being the only oil-producing LGA in Abia.
