Police intensify manhunt for 2 armed robbery suspects in Delta

The Police Command in Delta has intensified manhunt for two armed robbery suspects in the state.

Spokesman for the Command, SP Bright Edafe, in a statement on Tuesday in Warri, said that the suspects were among those terrorising Ekpan Community in Uvwie Local Government Area of the state.

He said that the duo, had on Friday, attacked a 48-year-old man in his residence with a locally-made gun at about 5:30p.m.

Edafe said that the incident was reported on same day at Ekpan Division of the Nigeria Police.

The police spokesman said that the suspects, who were masked, broke into the victim’s abode located near Charlisco, on the NPA Express Road.

He said that the victim courageously wrestled with the suspect who held the firearm, and in the process, broke the gun.

Edafe added that, on noticing the development, the second suspect struck the victim on the forehead before both suspects fled, abandoning the broken firearm.

“Upon receipt of the report, the Divisional Police Officer, Ekpan division, immediately deployed operatives to the scene, where the damaged locally-made firearm was recovered.

“The victim was referred to a hospital for treatment, while a manhunt for the fleeing suspects is in top gear,” he said.

Edafe quoted the Commissioner of Police in the state, Mr Samuel Erale, as commending the victim for his courage, and assured that the command would track and apprehend the suspects.

The CP also solicited from the public useful information that could assist the police in preventing crimes before they are executed in the state.
