2027: Tinubu best candidate to advance Nigeria — City Boy DG
Mr Francis Shoga, Director-General of the City Boy Movement (CBM), says President Bola Tinubu deserves another term to consolidate reforms, complete infrastructure projects and deliver greater prosperity to Nigerians.
Shoga made the declaration at a news conference on Thursday in Abuja, citing developments in infrastructure, agriculture, energy and economic reforms.
He said Nigerians should assess the administration based on measurable interventions across critical sectors, rather than political rhetoric, as preparations gather momentum for the 2027 general election.
Shoga particularly cited the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway and the 1,068-kilometre Sokoto-Badagry Superhighway as evidence of the administration’s infrastructure drive.
According to him, the projects, alongside ongoing federal road construction and rehabilitation, represented a significant expansion of the country’s road network.
“The government is building the two longest highways in our history, <span;>alongside rehabilitation and construction works on several federal roads across the country, ” he said.
On agriculture, Shoga cited the deployment of 2,000 tractors under the Renewed Hope Agricultural Mechanisation Programme and the $1.1 billion Green Imperative Project with Brazil.
“The Tinubu administration is mechanising agriculture at a historic scale and also expanding cultivated land and financing for rice and wheat production.”
He further cited the establishment of the Federal Ministry of Livestock Development as part of efforts to address food insecurity and strengthen agricultural production.
On the petroleum sector, he said increased crude oil production, investments in upstream operations and the commencement of commercial operations at the Dangote Refinery demonstrated progress in the energy sector.
Shoga defended the government’s response to economic hardship following petrol subsidy removal, citing the Presidential Compressed Natural Gas Initiative as an alternative aimed at reducing transportation costs.
He said the programme had encouraged the establishment of vehicle conversion centres and attracted private-sector investment in compressed natural gas infrastructure.
The CBM boss also cited improved external reserves, moderating inflation and a reduced debt-service burden relative to government revenue as indicators of progress under the administration’s economic reforms.
He argued that consolidating the reforms would help translate improving macroeconomic indicators into broader benefits for Nigerians.
The movement has intensified grassroots mobilisation ahead of the 2027 general election, with Shoga announcing a target of 10 million youth votes for Tinubu at its national retreat in Abuja in July.
He said the organisation would pursue the target through mobilisation across wards, local governments and communities nationwide.
Shoga maintained that the administration’s ongoing infrastructure, agricultural, energy and fiscal interventions formed the basis of the movement’s support for Tinubu’s bid to continue in office.
