Man docked for allegedly stealing, selling brother’s tricycle
The police on Thursday, dragged a 26-year-old man, Caleb Musa, before a Kaduna Magistrates’ Court, for allegedly stealing and selling his brother’s tricycle worth N1.4 million.
The defendant, a resident of Sabon Tasha, Kaduna, is standing trial on a charge of stealing.
He, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.
The prosecutor, Insp. Chidi Leo, told the court that the defendant committed the offence on Sept. 27 at Ungwan Sunday, Kaduna.
Leo alleged that the complainant parked his tricycle in front of his house to take some rest but later came out to discover that it had been removed by an unknown person.
The prosecutor said that during police investigation, the tricycle was recovered from one Haruna, who claimed that the defendant had sold it to him for the sum of N550,000.
He said the offence contravenes the provisions of the Kaduna State Penal Code, 2017.
The Magistrate, Mr Ibrahim Emmanuel, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N200,000, with two sureties in like sum.
Emmanuel ordered that the sureties must produce evidence of two years’ tax payment to the Kaduna State Government.
The court ordered that one of the sureties must be a blood relation of the defendant.
He adjourned the case until Oct. 29 for hearing.
