The Police Command in Delta says it has arrested 67 cultists and recovered arms and ammunition in parts of the state.
The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), SP Bright Edafe disclosed this in a statement on Friday in Asaba.
He said that the arrests followed intelligence-led and coordinated operations by a combined team of police personnel.
According to him, the suspected members of the Supreme Vikings Confraternity, also known as Aro Bagger, had assembled at a hotel along Abraka Road, Asaba, for an alleged cult anniversary celebration.
He said that a combined team of operatives from the Department of Operations, Rapid Response Squad, Asaba Sector and Command Anti-Cult Unit, Asaba Sector,  raided the premises and arrested 67 suspects, comprising 55 males and 12 females.
“The operation led to the recovery of two pump-action guns, one locally fabricated cut-to-size gun, 10  live cartridges, five expended cartridges, 11 caps bearing suspected cult insignia and two branded cult jackets.”
In a related development, operatives of RRS Agbor Sector, arrested 15 suspects alleged to be members of the Supreme Vikings Confraternity.
The suspects comprising 14 males and one female were arrested with items suspected to be linked to the cult group.
The statement quoted the Commissioner of Police, Samuel Erale as commending the operatives for successful operations.
He further directed all Area Commanders, Divisional Police Officers and tactical commanders to intensify operations against cult groups across the state.
The CP warned that the command would not tolerate cult-related activities capable of threatening public peace.
He also urged residents to support the police with credible information.
