Salary upgrade: Buni tasks Permanent Secretaries on service delivery
Gov. Mai Mala Buni of Yobe has urged Permanent Secretaries in the state to justify the government’s confidence and investment in them.
The governor made the call on Tuesday in Damaturu when representatives of the permanent secretaries paid him a ”thank-you” visit over the upward review of their salaries.
“You are the role models of the younger civil servants working under you, you should therefore lead by example. The government reviewed your salaries to improve your welfare and the growing responsibilities that accompanied your offices.
“It is said to whom much is given, much is equally expected, you should therefore justify this gesture by putting in your best to serve our people better.’
Also speaking, the Head of Service, Alhaji Abdullahi Musa, said the permanent secretaries had been on a static salary structure since 2006, adding that all efforts to get it reviewed had been unsuccessful until the present administration.
“Your Excellency, you have made Yobe permanent secretaries role models to their counterparts in other states. Thank you, sir,” he said.
He assured the governor that the permanent secretaries would justify the gesture “to the fullest of their ability” for the benefit of the state and its people.
