2027: APC support group targets 2m votes per state for Tinubu
The Progressive Voice for Progressive Minds (PVPM), an All Progressives Congress (APC) support group, has pledged nationwide grassroots mobilisation for President Bola Tinubu’s re-election in 2027.
The group’s National Coordinator, Mrs Theresa Ugbaja, made the pledge at a National Dialogue on Progress organised by the group on Tuesday in Abuja.
Ugbaja described PVPM as an organic, action-driven support movement committed to the success of the APC and continuity of the Tinubu-led administration.
She said the non-funded group operated across polling units, wards, the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), through state coordinators and executive members.
“We are proudly committed to supporting the APC, but our support will always be constructive.
“We will support what is right, promote good policies, and also have the courage to speak up when something needs to be corrected,” she said.
Highlighting the Tinubu administration’s achievements, Ugbaja listed ongoing infrastructure projects, including coastal roads, as well as the student loan scheme.
She said the removal of the petrol subsidy had redirected funds towards federal projects and humanitarian support programmes, including interest-free loans for small businesses and youth empowerment.
“A lot of those monies have been going into other areas which unlike before were not properly funded. This regime been headed by Tinubu is doing well,” Ugbaja said.
She said grassroots engagement, listening to citizens’ concerns and empowering young people were central to securing victory in 2027.
“We need to make this country a better place. We need good road, good healthcare, and economically we need to empower our youth,” she said.
Asked how many votes the group hoped to mobilise for Tinubu, Ugbaja said it was adopting a strategy to secure about two million votes from each state and the FCT.
Speaking at the event, APC Chairman in the FCT, Ishaku Yamawo, commended the group’s grassroots mobilisation initiative, saying it would strengthen the party’s efforts ahead of the elections.
He expressed optimism that Tinubu would be re-elected for a second term in 2027 and predicted victory for APC legislative candidates across the FCT.
Yamawo advised the group to comply with APC guidelines and mobilise registered voters, particularly those with Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs).
“What is expected of you is to go to the grassroots, like you have said that your group is Progressive Voice Progressives Minds, let that your voice be heard at the grassroots.
“Let that mind be convinced to support our candidates from Mr President, the senator and the two of House of Representatives.
“The essence of this group is to support our candidate, not just to sit and dance and laugh and go away without an impact.
“The impact you are going to make is go around the communities, talk to and convince those the party cannot reach so that we can achieve the same goal.
“The goal is for president, senator and the two of House of Representatives win election in FCT come 2027,” he said.
Yamawo assured party faithful of the APC’s preparedness for the 2027 elections in the FCT, saying the party was working with the FCT Minister to consolidate its political presence.
“If you go around the FCT today, you’ll be seeing APC everywhere. As we are having this engagement here, consultation is ongoing across area councils.
“This movement we are into for now is consultation. When we start the open campaign, you will know that APC has taken over FCT and victory is going to be ours by the grace of God come 2027,” he said.
