The Ekiti Governor, Biodun Oyebanji, has sought the approval of the state House of Assembly for the reappointment of three commissioners who served in his first term.

Oyebanji also sought the assembly’s approval for the appointment of 10 Special Advisers to assist in the administration of the state.

This is contained in a statement by the Chief Press Secretary, Mr Yinka Oyebode on Tuesday in Ado-Ekiti.

According to Oyebode, the governor’s requests were contained in a letter addressed to the Speaker of the assembly, Mr Adeoye Aribasoye, on Monday.

He said the nominees for reappointment as commissioners were Mr Dayo Apata (SAN), Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice; Mr Akintunde Oyebode, Commissioner for Finance; and Dr Oyebanji Filani, Commissioner for Health and Human Services.

The governor urged the assembly to screen and confirm the nominees to enable them resume their respective duties in the new administration.

The proposed reappointments are expected to ensure continuity in the administration, particularly in the justice, finance and health sectors.

The governor’s request comes as his administration begins its second term, with a focus on sustaining governance and strengthening service delivery across the state.

The office of the attorney-general and commissioner for justice is constitutionally required, while the finance and health portfolios are also considered critical to the effective administration of the state.

It will be recalled that Oyebanji, who was inaugurated for a second term on Oct. 16, recently approved appointments in the power, road infrastructure and transportation sectors.
