The Kano State House of Assembly has extended the suspension of the Chairmen of Rogo, Bagwai and Bebeji Local Government Councils by three months.

This is contained in a statement on Monday by the Chief Press Secretary of the Assembly, Kamaluddeen Sani-Shawai.

The suspended chairmen are – Bello Abdullahi-Gadanya (Bagwai), Alhassan Salisu (Bebeji) and Abubakar-Mustapha (Rogo).

Sani-Shawai said the House also granted a further three-month extension to the ad-hoc committee constituted to investigate the allegations against the three chairmen.

According to him, the Speaker had given the committee three months to conduct a thorough investigation and present its report to the House.

“With the expiration of the initial period, the House has now extended both the suspension of the chairmen and the mandate of the committee by another three months, to enable the committee to further examine the petitions, conclude its investigation, and submit its report to the House within the next three months.”

It was reported that the Assembly had earlier suspended the chairmen following allegations of violation of due process in their administrative procedures.
