Sobowale inaugurates elderly care home in Ibadan
Veteran Nollywood actress Sola Sobowale has inaugurated ‘Joseph and Esther Homes’, an elderly and senior citizens’ residential care facility in Ibadan.
Sobowale announced the development in an Instagram post on Wednesday, expressing gratitude to Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, for commissioning the facility and acknowledging those who supported the project.
The post reads: “Yesterday was a dream come true. JOSEPH AND ESTHER HOMES is here. Thank you, Your Excellency, for the honour of commissioning this estate.”
It was reported that the facility, located in Akobo, Ibadan, was commissioned by Makinde on Tuesday.
The ceremony also featured the inauguration of Sobowale’s book, titled ‘Built From the Break’, and attracted dignitaries and prominent personalities from the entertainment industry.
The facility is designed to provide older people with residential accommodation and professional care.
The venture draws on Sobowale’s previous experience working as a caregiver in the United Kingdom, where she obtained professional care qualifications.
The veteran spent about 12 years away from Nigeria before returning to Nollywood in 2016, after working in the care sector and raising her children in the UK.
She subsequently regained prominence through her performances in films, including The Wedding Party and King of Boys, earning the Africa Movie Academy Award for Best Actress in a Leading Role in 2019 for the latter.
