I’m committed to APC, rule of law – Tuggar

Former Minister of Foreign Affairs, Amb. Yusuf Tuggar has reiterated his loyalty and commitment to the All Progressive Congress (APC).

He also rejected the declaration of former Gov. Mohammed Abubakar, as the APC governorship flagbearer in the 2027 election.

Tuggar said this in a statement by his media aide, Alkasim Abdulkadir, on Thursday in Bauchi.

Abdulkadir said that the Tuggar campaign organisation denied allegiance to Abubakar, stressing that there were no valid APC gubernatorial primary election in the state.

“Our attention has been drawn to reports claiming that supporters of Amb. Yusuf Maitama Tuggar accepted the outcome of the APC governorship primary in Bauchi State, and shifted their allegiance.

“This claim is false and does not represent the position of the Tuggar campaign organisation.

“The individuals, who addressed the press openly admitted they were not speaking on behalf of Amb. Tuggar, and had no authority to make declarations in his name.

“Their views are personal and cannot be presented as those of the ambassador or his supporters,” Abdulkadir said.

He said that the Tuggar campaign organisation rejected the consensus that was neither preceded by broad consultations nor based on the voluntary agreement of all aspirants and key stakeholders.

“It therefore cannot be regarded as a legitimate consensus under the principles of internal party democracy.

“Amb. Tuggar remains committed to the APC, its constitution, and the rule of law,” he said.

Abdulkadir urged supporters to disregard the statement, adding that it did not represent the official position of Tuggar.
