Police arraign 2 over alleged theft of cable worth N90,000
Cable vandal suspects, Mr Akintola Wale, 36, and Babatunde Yusuf, 41, on Tuesday, appeared before an Ota Magistrates’ Court, for allegedly stealing Earthen cable, worth N90,000, belonging to their employer.
The two men, of no fixed addresses, were arraigned on a three-count charge of stealing, conspiracy and damage.
They pleaded not guilty to the charge.
The Prosecutor, E.O. Adaraloye, told the court that the defendants committed the offences at about 2.30 p.m. at Papillon Plastic Company Limited, Erinko Estate, Ijoko Road, Ota.
Adaraloye alleged that the defendants conspired to steal earthen cable of an operational machine, valued at N90,000 and belonging to Papillon Plastic Company Limited.
He also told the court that the duo also damaged the earthen cable in the process of trying to remove it from the machine.
He said that the offences contravened Sections 390(9),451 and 515 of the Criminal Code, Laws of Ogun, 2006.
The Magistrate, Mrs O.O. Fadairo, granted the defendants bail in the sum of N50,000 with one surety each in like sum.
She also ordered that the sureties must reside within the court’s jurisdiction and be gainfully employed with evidence of tax payment to Ogun Government.
The case was later adjourned to September 8 for further hearing.
