Soludo: Anambra remains APGA stronghold as LG campaign ends

Gov. Chukwuma Soludo of Anambra says the state remains a formidable stronghold of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), expressing confidence in the party’s victory in Saturday’s local government election.

Soludo stated this on Wednesday at Otuocha, Anambra East Local Government Area, during the grand finale of APGA’s campaign ahead of the election.
 
He said the party was fully mobilised to win all the 21 local government areas of the state.
 
“We are taking the election seriously because we are committed to ensuring that grassroots administration remains fully functional in line with democratic principles.
 
“APGA chairmanship candidates are contesting unopposed in 20 local government areas, reflecting the opposition’s recognition of the party’s strength and popularity.
 
“Accountability, transparency and sustainability remain the hallmarks of our administration,” he said.
 
Soludo said APGA was preparing for a major political movement in early 2027, alongside accelerated development across all sectors.
 
He however, appreciated the people of Anambra East for their support and massive votes during the previous governorship election, assuring them of continued development across the state.
 
Earlier, the Chairman of Anambra East Local Government Area, Mr Ifeanyichukwu Chinweze, commended Soludo for visiting the area repeatedly since assuming office.
 
Chinweze said the governor’s sustained support and commitment had facilitated infrastructural development in the area.

He said the Otuocha Market project was now about 70 per cent completed and would serve the Omambala region and parts of Kogi.
 
He also said peace had been restored to communities previously embroiled in conflicts in the area.
 
Speaking on behalf of Otuocha women traders, Mrs Veronica Chukwuma said the local government chairman had performed exceptionally well in office.
 
She and other APGA leaders highlighted the administration’s achievements, including free education, antenatal care, delivery services and youth empowerment programmes.
 
In his remarks, state Chairman of APGA, Mr Ifeatu Obi-Okoye, said the massive turnout at the rally demonstrated the people’s continued support for APGA.
 
He urged residents to come out in large numbers on Saturday to vote for APGA candidates in the local government election.
