NPC mourns veteran journalist
The Nigerian Press Council (NPC) has expressed deep sadness over the death of a veteran journalist and publisher of The Eagle Online, Mr. Dotun Oladipo, who died on Aug. 25 in Lagos at the age of 56.
The Executive Secretary of the Council, Dr Dili Ezughah stated this in a statement issued on Monday in Abuja by the Deputy Director, Research and Documentation Mrs Anumodu Stella Ezughah described Oladipo’s death as a great loss to the Nigerian media industry, noting his nearly three-decade contribution to journalism and commitment to professional practice.
He said Oladipo had an extensive career in the Nigerian media, working with leading newspapers before establishing The Eagle Online, where he contributed significantly to the growth of digital journalism and online publishing in Nigeria.
The NPC acknowledged his contributions, particularly in political reporting and digital journalism.
He noted that his dedication to the journalism profession and the development of online media would be remembered by the Nigerian journalism community.
The Council commiserated with the family of the deceased, his colleagues, friends, as well as the management and staff members of The Eagle Online over the loss.
Ezughah prayed that God would grant the family and all those mourning him the strength and fortitude to bear the loss and grant the deceased eternal rest.
