The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) in the state, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, disclosed this in a statement on Monday, made available to newsmen in Awka.

Ikenga said that the suspect was linked to several cases of mobile phone theft at hotels across the three communities.

“The suspect was arrested in the early hours of Sunday, by operatives attached to the Amanuke Police Division, following investigations into multiple reported cases of mobile phone theft and the review of Closed-Circuit Television (CCTV) footage allegedly linking him to the incidents,” he said.

According to the PPRO, the CCTV footage forms part of the evidence reviewed during investigations into the reported incidents, which eventually led to the suspect’s arrest.
