Gov. Uba Sani of Kaduna State has launched the reconstruction of a bridge linking Mariri, Geshere, Binawa and other communities in Kauru Local Government Area of the state.

Sani, represented by Sen. Sunday Katung, representing Kaduna South Senatorial District, performed the groundbreaking ceremony in Binawa.

Sani described the bridge as an important infrastructure project that would improve connectivity and alleviate the suffering of residents.

He said the reconstruction was the beginning of further development interventions, expressing hope that the long awaited Kubangari bridge would also be constructed.

He urged residents to support the government’s development efforts, saying the project would improve access to markets, schools and healthcare facilities.

He also called on traditional rulers, youths and security agencies to strengthen collaboration towards addressing insecurity and sustaining peace in the area.

Earlier, Dr Abdullahi Ahmad, Managing Director of the Kaduna State Roads Agency (KADRA), said the bridge would facilitate movement of people, agricultural produce and essential services.

Ahmad said the project would improve access to markets, schools and healthcare facilities, while supporting businesses and strengthening relationships among communities.

He assured residents that the agency would ensure the project met engineering standards, with emphasis on quality, durability and timely completion.

Also speaking, Rep. Zakari Haruna Chawai, representing Kauru/Chawai Federal Constituency, expressed gratitude to the state government for the intervention.

Chawai said the project was expected to be completed within two to three months, urging residents to support the government’s development efforts.

He described the bridge as a gift to the entire local government and expressed optimism that more projects would be executed in the area.

The lawmaker also called on residents to support the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the 2027 general elections.

In his remark, the District Head of Kumana, Mr Samaila Yanaba, commended the state government for reconstructing the Binawa bridge, which had been abandoned for over 14 years.

Some residents interviewed also expressed appreciation for the intervention, saying the bridge’s collapse had adversely affected their socio-economic activities and movement within and beyond the area.
