Lagos generates N1.08trn IGR in five years – NBS

The Lagos State Government has recorded a total of N1.08 trillion in its Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) between 2010 and 2014.

This is according to latest data from the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS).

A further breakdown of the figures show that the state also recorded the highest IGR of 276.16 billion naira in 2014.

Rivers State occupied the second position with an IGR of 89.11 billion naira in 2014, and a cumulative total of 345.64 billion naira within the five-year period.

With a total of 199.43 billion naira generated between 2010 and 2014, Delta State came next.

In the meantime, 13 states which were previously left out of the IGR index also had their complete 2014 IGR figures accommodated.

They include Abia, Adamawa and Borno states, which recorded 12.73 billion naira, 4.99 billion naira and 2.76 billion respectively as IGR in 2014.

Others include Cross River, Ebonyi, Edo, among others.

According to the NBS, all 36 states generated total of 2.84 quadrillion naira within the five-year period.
