Nigerian startup gets Microsoft support to transform healthcare
Sabaoth Technologies, a Nigerian healthcare startup, is transforming Nigeria’s healthcare delivery organizations through their ‘All Purpose Medical Information System (APMIS)’ with financial, technical and mentorship support from Microsoft under the 4Afrika initiative.
The startup recently signed a contract to deploy the APMIS in 40 private and public healthcare facilities in Akwa Ibom and Cross Rivers states in Nigeria, and digitized over 10 000 patients’ records into the APMIS in one of the hospitals in Ilorin, Kwara State.
The APMIS (www.apmis.ng) is a connected healthcare platform, which allows healthcare facilities to capture, store and exchange relevant data easily, securely and at a low cost. The app is 100% locally developed and is designed to solve healthcare information challenges in resource constrained environments.
The APMIS is currently being rolled out in Nigeria, at the University College Hospital (UCH), Ibadan and a number of other small-to-medium healthcare facilities.
“The APMIS helps hospital owners and managers increase profitability, reduce operational costs and overheads, and improve the quality of care and patient satisfaction,” says Dr. Simpa Dania, CEO of Sabaoth Technologies. “We look forward to working with Microsoft in accelerating our development process, scaling our solution and transforming healthcare through technology.”
APMIS modules include:
- Health records
- Clinical documentation
- Clinic Management
- Ward Management
- Pharmacy
- Laboratory
- Radiology module with PACS
- Payment
- Telemedicine
- Health insurance
- Blood bank
- Patient Portal and
- Communication (SMS, email, voice calls etc.)
“We are empowering patients by ensuring they enjoy a continuity of care, whether they visit a rural hospital, private facility, state general hospital, or international consultation. At the same time, we are also helping state governments to solve issues around transparent and real-time healthcare data and reporting. The APMIS connects all stakeholders together on a single platform, improving health service delivery, education, research and administration.” Videos of the solution is available at www.apmis.ng/videos.
Speaking on the support from Microsoft, Oluwawemimo Adeniyi, Small, Mid-Market Solutions and Partners Director for Microsoft Nigeria, says: “Sabaoth Technologies is transforming Healthcare Sector in the African Market with a relevant, cost- effective technology solution.
