Osun Obas chairmanship: Orangun of Ila pledges support for Ooni

His Royal Highness, Oba Abdulwahab Adedotun Bibiire, Orangun of Ila in Osun State Nigeria has pledged his support to course of Ife land and throne of Ooni of Ife in the wake of the brewing tussle for the chairmanship of the Osun council of Obas and Chiefs.
Oba Adedotun who addressed the audience at the summit held as part of the Ooni’s coronation in Ile-Ife said apart from the historical affinity between Ile-Ife and Ila Orangun, and the Ifa morphology make reference to Orangun of Ila as a good ally of Ife kingdom and dynasty, adding that he is not going to change the course of history at his time.
The former teacher turned royal father paid due homage to the Ooni Enitan Babatunde Adeyeye Ogunwusi and said he is not part of those plotting to tamper with the provisions of the State’s law section 3, cap 33 on council of Obas and chiefs that makes the Ooni permanent chairman of the body.
In his keynote address at the event, Professor Biola Sanni, a professor of law at the university of Lagos, condemned the move by a body called Osun State council of traditional rulers to have recently endorsed the Owa Adimula of Ijesaland, HRM Oba Adekunle Aromolaran as the substantive chairman of the body describing such a move as an aberration of the state laws and that such cannot stand.
Prof. Sanni, explained that the body Osun state council of traditional rulers that made the announcement is not known to law as the name that is recognized by section 3, cap 33 is Osun council of Obàs and chiefs.
“The law provides that the membership of the council shall be as contained in the schedule. The schedule begin by listing HIM Oluaye Ooni of Ife, Ife East local government as the permanent chairman and HRM Owa Obokun of Ijesaland in Ilesa west as Deputy chairman.”
