A Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP), Royal Group Monday urged the Taraba state government to set up Information and Communication Technology (ICT) centres in secondary and tertiary institutions across the state to enable youths acquire ICT skills before leaving school.

Coordinator of the group, Mr. Dennis Shima made the appeal at a press conference in Jalingo.

Shima noted that the establishment of the centres in secondary and tertiary institutions across the state would prepared the youths to brace up with the challenges of the Information Age and reduce the rate of unemployment in the state.

The coordinator commended Governor Darius Ishaku for keeping to his campaign promises of providing infrastructure, adding that the ongoing construction of Jalingo-Kona road and the 6.5km Takum-Katsina-Ala road in the face of dwindling allocation to the state was an indication that the governor meant well for the state.

“We want to appeal to the governor to consider industrialization of the state to move Taraba away from over dependence on federal allocation and create jobs for the teeming youths of the state.

“It is our belief that soon he will consider the provision of social amenities to rural areas of the state. We therefore, call on people of the state to give peace a chance and support the governor to succeed,” he said.

The coordinator thanked the governor for carrying the youths along and pledged their support and loyalty to his administration.
