Nigeria’s Airport Authority beefs up security at MMIA
The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) has introduced a new security measure aimed at stepping up safety and security of the airport.
With the recent development, the main access gate leading to the Nigerian Aviation Handling Company (NAHCO), which, hitherto, served as entrance gate, had been converted to an exit.
The Daily Times gathered that the introduction of the security measure was to check the activities of miscreants, who claimed to be clearing agents at the NAHCO shed who did not have any business at the airport.
Daily Times further learnt that screening machines had been installed at the new exit gate, which will be used as pedestrian gate.
There has been a lot of security concern at the airport in recent times.
During a visit there, Minister of Transport, Hon. Rotimi Amaechi, frowned at the presence of a large number of security personnel at the airport and called on the management to trim down the number.
