Nigeria – U.S. relations excite Buhari

A renowned female cleric, Queen Capt. Maria Ogunyooye, has urged Nigerians to be patient with the administration of President Muhammadu Buhari saying the president is trying his best but the myriads of problems the country is facing make it seem as if he is not doing anything.

This is even as she expressed optimism that the country is on the path of greatness again.

Ogunyooye, Spiritual Head of the Ona Iwa Mimo (Oke Ayo) Cherubim & Seraphim Church, Ojota, Lagos, made this declaration during a press briefing on Thursday as part of activities marking the 70th year of her divine call to serve in the vineyard of the Lord at her church in Lagos.

The nonagenarian said: ‘’Buhari is working but the problem facing the country is too much. Nigeria will be great again”, she said.

She also used the occasion to call for the unity of the country as regards the persistent religious crises rocking the country.

In her words, there should be no fighting amongst Christians and Muslims as we all are one. If you are truly a child of God, unity, oneness should be your watch word.

“We should all live in unity and not force our religion on each other’’ she said.

She also called on religious leaders to eschew all forms of materialism while calling on them to live as simply as they could.

“If they are truly called by God, they should be humble, as God is not pleased with some of the things the so-called men of God are doing.”

Ogunyooye also called on religious leaders to teach their followers the true teachings in their various holy books, saying that fight in the name of religion is ungodly.

She continued, “I sometime wonder why people will fight over a religion. It is totally ungodly and you cannot be fighting on behalf of God who commanded that we should live in peace with our neighbours. We can only be great as a nation if we live in peace and harmony with one another and if we allow one another to worship God as dictated by their faiths.”

On his part, the Chairman of the Church, Rev. Dr. Sunday Oyebola, challenged all religious leaders to live a life worthy of emulation. He also enjoined Nigerians not to relent in their prayers for governments at all levels.
