Terrorism: Youth group demands elders’ support for Nigerian Army

The National Committee of Yoruba Youth (NCYY) have asked Nigerians, particularly the Elders and Stakeholders in the North East to support the Nigerian Army in sustaining the Victory recorded over the dreaded Boko Haram insurgents in the region.

The group made the demand on Sunday in Ibadan, Oyo State, at a New Year Special Charity Celebration for some motherless children in the State.

The Youth group maintained that an active collaboration between the people of the region and the Military, is a key ingredient required, to sustain the pressure that will permanently subdue the Boko Haram terrorists in the region.

While praising the courage of men and officers of the Nigerian Army and other security agencies involved in the war against Boko Haram, the group also called on Nigerians to show love and appreciation to the families of military personnel, as a mark of appreciation for their supreme sacrifices, towards making Nigeria secure and safe for all.

The President of the group, Comrade Odeyemi Oladimeji, further commended the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Tukur Buratai for demonstrating practical leadership by leading the Army from the front, in the herculean task of ensuring that Nigeria regains every part of the nation’s territory that were once occupied by the elements of the Boko Haram insurgents.

“Our gallant armies at the frontline of battles deserves our support. They deserve our encouragement and appreciation. This is a season for us not only to show appreciation to the less privileged, but also a time to specially show appreciation to our soldiers. We cannot make it a one-off event. It has to be something that is constant and we hope that spirit will see an expression in the motivation of our soldiers to even do more,” Comrade Odeyemi said.
