Applicant in court for allegedly assaulting EKEDC staff
The police on Monday arraigned an applicant, Olanrewaju Olasunkanmi, in a Badagry Magistrates’ Court, Lagos State for assaulting a staff of Eko Electricity Distribution Company (EKEDC) while on duty.
Olasunkanm, 25, of no fixed address, is charged with three counts of malicious damage, assault and inflicting injury before Chief Magistrate, Mr Aka Basorun.
The Prosecutor, Sgt. Ayodele Adeosun, told the court that the accused and others now at large, committed the offence on March 14, at about 11. 30 a.m. at Ijotun, Oko Afo, Badagry, Lagos.
Adeosun alleged that the accused and his accomplices conspired and damaged an infinix phone valued at N40,000 property of Felix Momodu, a staff of EKEDC while performing his duty.
The offence, he said, contravened the provisions of sections 411, 339 and 173 of Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015 as amended.
The accused, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.
Chief Magistrate Basorun admitted the defendant to bail in the sum of N100, 000 with two sureties in like sum.
The magistrate ordered that one of the sureties must be a community leader.
He adjourned the case until April 16, for hearing.
