Court remands man for allegedly stealing N30, 000
A Chief Magistrates’ Court in Kafanchan, Kaduna State, on Friday ordered a man, Isiyaku Nayau, to be remanded in a correctional facility after admitting to stealing N30, 000.
The Magistrate, Abdulaziz Ibrahim, adjourned the case until March 10, for his summary trial after an application by the prosecution.
Nayau is standing trial on three counts of criminal conspiracy, trespass and theft, contrary to sections 58, 327 and 270 of the Kaduna State Penal Code.
The Prosecutor, Insp. Esther Bishen, had told the court that the defendant, along with two others, now at large, allegedly went to one Adamu Wantam’s house and beat him to stupor.
Bishen also alleged that they made away with the victim’s N30, 000.
When the charge was read to the defendant, he pleaded guilty and begged the court for leniency.
