Ogun: Youth Ministry launches Dapo Abiodun Tennis competition
Young boys and girls ranging from 12 to 14 years for cadet and 15 to 18 years for junior category were drawn all over Ogun State for the 1st Prince Dapo Abiodun Table Tennis Competition.
The tournament which is the brainchild of the Ogun State Ministry of Youth and Sports, under the leadership of Dr. Oluwadare Kehinde, is in furtherance of the Youth Development Initiative of His Excellency Prince Dr. Dapo Abiodun MFR.
The event which started today Wednesday 9th June, 2021 at Alake Sports Centre, Ijeja, Abeokuta, Ogun State is expected to run through Thursday 10th June, 2021.
The championship was launched to commemorate the two years anniversary of Governor Dapo Abiodun in office and it is aimed at discovering and developing young talents at the grassroot level. The novel Table Tennis Championship will feature cadet and junior tennis players from about 60 secondary schools drawn across the three senatorial districts in the state.
Meanwhile, the grand finale will hold tomorrow at the Badminton Hall of Alake Sports Center Ijeja, Abeokuta Ogun State by 2pm.
Amongst the dignitaries expected to grace the ocassion are the *Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Hon. Tokunbo Talabi;* the Honourable Commissioner for Transportation, *Hon. Gbenga Dairo;* *Hon. Afolabi Afuwape,* Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs; Hon. Commissioner for
Special Duties and Inter Governmental Affairs, *Barrister Femi Ogunbanwo* and many others.
