Man, 23, in court for allegedly stealing employer’s car

A 23-year-old employee, Nwobiji Freeman, was on Wednesday in Lagos docked before an Ikeja Magistrates’ Court for allegedly stealing his employer’s car valued at N5.5million.

The police charged Freeman, who resides at Ikeja, Lagos State for theft.

The Prosecution counsel, Sgt. Olasunkanmi Adejumola, told the court that the defendant committed the offence on Sept. 6, at Ikeja, Lagos State.

He alleged that the defendant stole the car belonging to Mr Idowu Babatunde.

“The defendant absconded with his employer’s Honda Crosstour 2013 model car.

“When he was eventually arrested, he claimed that he had sold the car and could not trace the buyer.”

Adejumola said that the offence violated section 287(10) of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.

The Magistrate, Mrs R.A. Alejo, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N400,000 with two sureties in like sum.

She said that the sureties must be gainfully employed and show evidence of two years tax payment to the Lagos State Government.

Alejo adjourned the case until Nov. 9, for trail.
