The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) in Anambra says an accident inward Amawbia Bridge on Awka-Enugu Expressway, Anambra, has claimed the life of a middle-aged man.

Mr Adeoye Irelewuyi, the Corps Sector Commander, confirmed the accident to our reporter on Tuesday in Awka.

Irelewuyi said the accident, which happened at about 6:15.p.m, could be attributed to speed and loss of control.

“The fatal crash involved an unidentified driver of a black Nissan Pathfinder car and an unidentified driver of a white trailer with no registration number.

“According to report, the driver of the Nissan car was on speed when he lost control of the vehicle and rammed into the trailer and crashed.

“Three male adults were involved in the crash. The victims were taken to Chukwuemeka Odimegwu Ojukwu University Teaching Hospital, Amaku, Awka, where driver of the car was confirmed dead by the doctor on duty,” he said.

The corps sector commander said that remains of the driver had been deposited at the hospital’s mortuary.
