An Ngo, the Concerned Nation Builders Initiative (CNI), has urged Nigerians to register and collect their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) ahead of the 2023 general elections.

Mr Afeez Lawal, the Deputy Director of the organization, made the plea during an interview with our reporter in Epe, on Thursday.

Lawal called on the residents of Epe, Lagos State and Nigerians to go out en-masse; register for and collect their PVCs, in order to participate in the forthcoming general elections.

According to him, PVC is their voting right and power to determine their future and who will govern them in their best interests in the coming general elections.

The deputy director urged those who had just attained the required voting age of 18 to visit the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) offices in their respective local government areas and register for their PVCs.

“The PVC is your weapon to flush out bad representatives and vote in the best candidates that will represent your interests.

“If you don’t show concerns about governance, do not complain when the wrong people mount the position of authority and be ruling you unjustly, “he said.

He noted that there were several PVCs at the various INEC offices yet to be collected by their owners.

He urged the owners to go and collect their voter cards to be able to vote in 2023.

“The PVC is the power of the people. It is the tool they need to change and renegotiate their future. It is their power to ensure that their next representatives, governors and president will be those who will care about their needs but also be sensitive to the demands of the citizens.

“A representative who will provide the citizens world class hospitals, health centres, world class educational standard because I believe there cannot be prosperity without good education.

“Others are: representatives that will provide the youth and women empowerment, good road network, portable water supply.

“They will need to vote for representatives that will help them promote commerce, trade and industry and revive the economy.

“The forthcoming administration should revolve around those who have people-oriented projects to be executed across all the 36 states and the 774 local government areas.

“All these won’t happen if the people do not collect their cards to vote for credible people during the general elections,” he said.

Lawal appealed to INEC to put its machinery in place and upgrade its necessary equipment ahead of the 2023 general elections to avoid any hiccups.
