Non Asset Declaration: Tribunal fixes March 31 for trial of ex-Vice Chair Kuje Area Council, 6 others
The Code of Conduct Tribunal (CCT) has fixed March 31, June 8 and June 9 for trial of a former vice chairman and six councillors of the Kuje Area Council in the Federal Capital Territory.
Mr Duda Ismaila, Mr Yunusa Salihu, Mr Dantani Musa, Mr Maikasuwa Magaji, Mr Samson Waziri, Mr Karfe Hassan and Mr Zephaniah Musa, were charged by the Code of Conduct Bureau for allegedly failing to submit in writing their assets and liabilities at the end of their tenures.
They all pleaded not guilty to the charge.
Tribunal Chairman Justice Danladi Umar, who fixed the date, ordered that the name of another official, Duda Ismaila, wrongly spelt as Dauda Ismaila, be corrected.
Justice Danladi ordered the prosecution counsel to file a fresh charge against the defendant with his correct names.
“So the prosecution must go back and prepare and file a fresh charge.
“This charge as it is, is hereby struck out against the defendant,” he said.
The CCB alleged that on or about Aug. 31,2019, having served in the Kuje Area Council, FCT, the defendants failed to submit a written declaration of all your assets and liabilities at the end of your tenure of office within the prescribed three months.
