Road accidents in Anambra down by 30% in 6 months – FRSC

The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) in Ogun says it will begin free vehicle safety check from Thursday until Sunday as part of its responsibility to ensure safety on the roads.

Mr Ahmed Umar, the FRSC Sector Commander in the state, stated this in a statement issued in Abeokuta on Wednesday.

The commander noted that the essence was also to educate and enlighten the motoring public on safety matters.

He explained that the exercise was an initiative of the Agency carried out quarterly to assist motorists in detecting any little fault in vehicles.

Umar explained that a checklist ticket would be issued at the end of the exercise for follow up and to encourage the drivers fix any defect discovered in the process.

He added that the operation would be carried out by FRSC operatives, both Regular and Special Marshalls, throughout the duration of the exercise.

Umar opined that vehicles flagged would not be issued tickets of offence except for life threatening offences.

“The second quarter free vehicle safety check is within the state and the exercise would be carried out simultaneously in all FRSC formations across Ogun,” he said.

The sector commander advised motorists to cooperate with the operatives for the free check and also obey traffic rules and regulations.
