Ex-FC Barcelona coach returns to Bilbao for third time

Ernesto Valverde has been named the coach of Athletic Bilbao for a third time, the LaLiga club said on Thursday.

The 58-year-old Spaniard was coach of FC Barcelona from 2017- 2020.

The former Athletic Bilbao striker first coached the Basque side from 2003 to 2005 and then again from 2013 to 2017.

His 2015 Spanish Super Cup win was the club’s first title in 31 years.

Last season Athletic Bilbao finished eighth, narrowly missing out on the European places.
