Court to sentence unemployed man for stealing school windows

An Upper Area Court in Kafanchan, Kaduna State has fixed Aug. 3, for summary trial of a 36-year-old unemployed man, Julius Steven, who pleaded guilty to stealing school windows.

The presiding judge, Mr George Gwani, fixed the date and admitted the defendant to bail in the sum of N20, 000 and one surety in like sum.

Steven was charged by the police with criminal trespass, mischief and theft.

The Police Prosecutor, Insp Esther Bishen, told the court that Adetiba Justina, a staff of Makarfi National College, Kafanchan reported the matter at the station on July 8.

Bishen said the complainant alleged that the accused person entered the school and made away with two windows valued at N12, 000.

According to her, the offence runs contrary to the provisions of sections 327, 312 and 270 of the Kaduna state penal code law.
