Abdulrazaq submits 2 new commissioner nominees to Kwara legislature
Gov. AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq of Kwara on Wednesday forwarded two new commissioner nominees to the state House of Assembly for screening and confirmation.
The nominees include Saadat Modibbo Kawu from Ilorin South Local Government Area, and Abubakar Sadiq Buhari from Edu Local Government Area.
The list of the two additional nominees is contained in a message from the Governor addressed to the Speaker of the House, Mr Yakubu Salihu Danladi, and read before the lawmakers during a plenary.
According to the Governor, the nomination is in accordance with section 192, subsection 1-5 of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
The governor also said in the letter that, in selecting persons to hold the office of commissioner, he has taken due care to comply with section 14 subsection 4 of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
The Speaker, however, assured that the nominees would be screened in the next legislative date.
In another development, the bill for a law to amend the Kwara State Revenue Administration Law passed “Second Reading”.
This followed rigorous debate by the parliamentarians.
The bill passed second reading after the Clerk of the House, Hajia Halimah Kperogi, read it the second time.
The Speaker therefore referred the bill to the committee of Finance and Appropriation to conduct a public hearing and report to the House in due course.
