Lagos tourism commissioner, Runsewe, Kangiwa bag ATTWON Tourism Icon awards

Mrs Uzamat Akinbile-Yusuf, Lagos State Commissioner for Tourism, Arts and Culture on Wednesday bagged the Association of Tourism and Travel Writers of Nigeria (ATTWON) award as “Tourism Amazon” of the year 2022.

The award was conferred on her and other beneficiaries during ATTWON quarterly tourism parliament and awards held in Lagos.

Also, Chief Olusegun Runsewe, Director-General, National Council for Arts and Culture (NCAC), got the culture tourism icon award for his indelible contribution toward the promotion of Nigerian culture.

Alhaji Nura Kangiwa, Director-General, National Institute for Hospitality and Tourism (NIHOTOUR), bagged the tourism and hospitality icon award for improved capacity development in Nigeria.

Mr Ayo Omotosho, ATTWON Chairman, during the presentation of the awards said it was just a way to appreciate the efforts of the awardees toward the growth of travel, tourism and hospitality industries in Nigeria.

Omotosho noted that this would also spur the awardees to work more in ensuring constant improvement in the industries.

Our correspondent reports that Oba Oladele Odugbemi, Olu of Lisa Kingdom, bagged an award as the cultural tourism royal icon while CitiHeight Luxury Hotel got the destination role model award and premium service delivery award.

Chief Abiodun Odusanwo, Chairman, Institute of Tourism Professionals of Nigeria (ITPN), won the award as the visionary change maker and Mr Omololu Olumuyiwa, Publisher, Travelscope Magazine, got the youth tourism pathfinder award.

Epe Resort and Spa won the premium destination resort award while the Think Tinubu Movement (TTM) bagged the most formidable political support group.

In her response, Akinbile-Yusuf, represented by Mrs Adamma Oni, Director, Tourism Promotions, Lagos State Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture, appreciated the kind gesture extended to her.

Mr Olufemi Talabi, Chairman, CitiHeight Luxury Hotel, also appreciated the organiser of the award.

“I will cherish this for a long time because it is an award that is relevant to the industry that I play in, I appreciate and God bless,” he said.
