Ibadan explosion: PDP commiserates with Makinde, Oyo people
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), on Thursday commiserated with Gov. Seyi Makinde, and the people of Oyo state over the deadly explosion in Bodija area of Ibadan, the State capital.
The party, in a statement by its National Publicity Secretary, Debo Ologunagba, in Abuja, described the incident as tragic.
Ologunagba said that the party was saddened by the explosion which claimed the lives of citizens, critically injuring others and left many displaced.
He said that the incident which destroyed homes and property in the area had brought agony and pain to the people of Oyo at this critical time.
He commended the state government for the exceptional show of leadership in and swift response and intervention by visiting the scene of the incident.
He also lauded the immediate provision of all necessary emergency aids and support to the victims and their families, including prompt evacuation of victims, payment of medical bills, and temporary accommodation to the displaced.
“Such prompt intervention by Gov. Makinde helped in saving more lives and bringing succour to the victims and their families,” Ologunagba said.
He called for an investigation into the remote and immediate causes of the blast so as to bring the culprits to justice and prevent such tragic occurrence in the future.
He prayed for the repose of the souls of the dead and speedy recovery of the injured.
