The Police in Lagos on Friday arraigned a 27-year-old man, Adetayo Ayodele, before an Ogudu Magistrates’ Court for allegedly obtaining N240,000 under false pretence.

The defendant, whose home address was not provided, appeared before Magistrate O. A. Daodu on a two-count charge of obtaining by false pretence and conversion of funds.

The prosecution said that Ayodele allegedly fraudulently obtained N240,000 from the complainant, Mr Bisi Ogunneye, on the pretext of wanting to construct a kitchen cabinet for him.

However, he allegedly failed to carry out the job and instead converted the money to personal use.

The prosecution stated that the offence contravened Sections 287 and 314(b) of the Criminal Law of Lagos State.

The defendant pleaded not guilty to the charges.

Magistrate Daodu granted him bail in the sum of N240,000 with two sureties in like sum.

The case was adjourned until April 10 for further hearing.
