The Accord has announced Prof. Christopher Imumolen as its presidential candidate for the 2027 general elections.

The party disclosed this in a statement by its National Secretary, Malam Muktar Abdullah, on Thursday in Abuja.

According to him, Imumolen was elected via a consensus vote, reflecting unified party support across all segments of Accord structures during the national presidential primary election held in Lagos.

Abdullah noted that the convention drew delegates from all the 36 states of the federation and the Federal Capital Territory, who gathered to select the party’s standard-bearer.

He added that Imumolen’s candidacy enjoyed immense structural backing, driven significantly by a strong representation from the party’s vibrant younger demographic who viewed him as the face of modern Nigerian leadership.

“As the youngest presidential candidate to contest in the previous 2023 election, Prof. Imumolen joins the 2027 race with enhanced experience, solidified grassroots structures and unyielding national appeal.

“He is a high-capacity leader, an accomplished entrepreneur and a renowned philanthropist possessing the visionary skills required to fix Nigeria’s systemic issues and place the country on the right track toward prosperity,” he said.

Abdullah reiterated the party’s unwavering commitment to internal democracy, equity and transparency.

He added that the party had established robust internal mechanisms to constructively address any friction arising from the party’s primary processes, ensuring a united front.

According to Abdullah, in the coming weeks, Accord will unveil a comprehensive socio-economic roadmap designed to rescue Nigerians from current hardships.

He called on all well-meaning Nigerians, particularly the youth and professionals, to join hands with the authentic candidate of the party as Accord Party build a nation that works for everyone.

In his acceptance speech, Imumolen expressed gratitude to the delegates and pledged to run an issue-based, inclusive national campaign.

Imumolen described his candidacy as the will of the people and a call to service, promising not to fail the country.

“Today, what we have done here is to have our primaries for the presidential candidate, which has been successfully conducted.

“I have rightfully emerged as the candidate for Accord. The list will now be submitted to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and we await their official publication of the candidates this September,” Imumolen said.

He pledged that an Accord-led Federal Government would directly confront the devastating scourge of unemployment, tackle pervasive insecurity and structurally revamp the economic architecture of the country to lift millions out of poverty.
