Man docked over alleged theft of nephew’s school fees
A man, 40, iCaleb Dogara, on Thursday, appeared before a Kaduna Magistrates’ Court, over alleged N280,000 theft of his nephew’s school.
Dogara, a resident of Narayi, Kaduna, was charged with stealing, but pleaded not guilty.
The Prosecutor, Insp. Chidi Leo, told the court that the defendant committed the offence on Aug. 5 at the above address.
Leo said that the defendant stole an ATM card belonging to his nephew and withdrew the sum of N280,000 which was meant for his school fees.
According to the prosecutor, the offence contravened Section 217 of the Kaduna State Penal Code, 2017.
It was reported that Section 217stipulates five years’ jail term for stealing.
The Magistrate, Ibrahim Emmanuel, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N200,000 with two sureties in like sum.
Emmanuel said that one of the sureties must be a blood relation of the defendant with evidence of two year’s tax payment.
He adjourned the case until Oct. 12, for hearing.
