Police arraign Motor boy, 25, over alleged burglary, stealing

A 25-year-old tipper motor boy, Adamu Musa, was on Thursday, arraigned before an Okitipupa Chief Magistrates’ Court in Ondo State, over alleged burglary and stealing.

The defendant, whose address was not given, is facing a three-count charge bordering on burglary, malicious damage and stealing.

The Police Prosecutor, Insp. Ayodeji Omoyeigha told the court, that the defendant, had on May 10 around 06:20 a.m at Ilupeju, Quarters in Okitipupa, Okitipupa magisterial district burgled the dwelling house of one Funmilayo Olaleye.

He said that the defendant maliciously damaged the window valued N50,000 and stole a Tecno Smart 8 phone valued N210,000 and N220,000 cash, totalling N480,000, property of Olaleye.

Omoyeigha added that, the defendant committed the offences contrary to Sections 411, 451 and 390(9) Criminal Code, Cap.37, Vol. 1, Laws of Ondo State, 2006.

The defendant, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges brought against him.

The Chief Magistrate, Mr Mayowa Olanipekun granted the defendants bail in the sum of N200,000 and one surety in like sum.

He added that the surety, who must be resident within the court jurisdiction, must also show and present evidence of two years tax payment, paid to the state government.

He adjourned the case until Sept. 21 for further hearing.
