2027: ADC guber candidate pledges to foster unity via culture
Gen. Nuhu Angbazo, the African Democratic Congress (ADC) governorship candidate in Nasarawa State, has promised to promote unity and peace through culture if elected governor in 2027.
Angbazo made the pledge on Thursday at his residence in Nassarawa Eggon Local Government Area while playing host to the Wakama Ward Central Working Committee ahead of its Cultural Day celebration slated for Jan. 2027.
According to him, culture promotes unity and peace, hence the need for his pledge in that direction.
While appreciating the visitors for the visit, Angbazo assured them of his support to enable them to organise a befitting cultural day.
“I am delighted and honoured by your visit. I am proud to be a Wakama son. The theme of Wakama Day, ‘Preserving Our Heritage, Building Our Future,’ is apt.
“Let’s continue to promote our culture for the unity and peace of Wakama and the society at large.
“Let me emphasise that if I am elected governor in 2027, I will make sure that I promote unity and peace through culture,” he said.
He used the medium to call on the people of the community and others to continue to live in unity and peace with one another irrespective of their ethnic, religious and political affiliations.
Angbazo added that peace remained a necessary requirement for the development of any society.
The ADC governorship candidate donated N3 million as part of his contribution to the success of the event.
Earlier, the Chairman of the Central Working Committee (CWC) for the 2026 Wakama Day Celebration said that the visit to Angbazo was to seek his support, guidance and blessings for the forthcoming Wakama Day.
“Sir, the committee’s vision is to make it Wakama Cultural Day as an annual community event that will bring together our people, preserve our heritage, encourage younger generations to learn about their roots and provide an opportunity for meaningful community development.
“Sir, as a critical stakeholder of the Wakama community, you have a very critical role to play to ensure the success of Wakama Day.
“With your support, advice and encouragement, we will succeed and Wakama Day will be great,” the chairman said.
He noted that the committee proposed that the theme of the inaugural celebration be “Preserving Our Heritage, Building Our Future.”
