Police arraign man, 25, over alleged assault
The Police, on Wednesday, arraigned a 25-year-old man, Aliu Abubarka, before an Ado-Ekiti Chief Magistrates’ Court for allegedly assaulting a woman.
Abubarka, whose address was not provided, is facing a one-count charge of assault.
The prosecutor, ASP Akinwale Oriyomi, told the court that the defendant committed the offence on Aug. 17 in Ado-Ekiti.
Oriyomi alleged that the defendant unlawfully and indecently dealt with one Aisat Sanni, an offence punishable under Section 149(1) of the Criminal Law of Ekiti State, 2021.
The defendant, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.
The Defence Counsel, Mr Sunday Balogun, urged the court to grant his client bail, with a promise that he would not jump bail, if granted.
The prosecutor, however, opposed the bail application.
The Chief Magistrate, Mr Abayomi Adeosun, adjourned the case to Sept. 28 for ruling on the bail application and further proceedings.
