First Lady to unveil National Community Food Bank in Anambra

Wife of the President, Sen. Oluremi Tinubu, will on Sept. 10 launch the National Community Food Bank Programme for the South-East Geopolitical Zone in Anambra.

Mr Daniel Ezeigwe, Senior Media Aide to the Wife of Anambra Governor, Dr Nonye Soludo, disclosed this in a statement issued on Wednesday.

Ezeigwe said the inauguration would form part of the First Lady’s official visit to Anambra, her first visit to the state since assuming office.

He said the programme was part of efforts under the Renewed Hope Initiative (RHI) to strengthen food security and support vulnerable households amid concerns over hunger and nutrition.

According to him, the visit will also feature the empowerment of 5,000 people under the Progressives United Against Poverty Initiative.

“The initiative is a partnership championed by the Anambra Government in support of the RHI Economic Support Scheme,” he said.

Ezeigwe said the empowerment programme was designed to provide beneficiaries with practical economic support and opportunities to improve their livelihoods.

He added that the programme paid particular attention to people and households requiring assistance to become more economically productive.

He said the wife of the president was also expected to visit the Federal Polytechnic, Oko, where she would inaugurate key projects at the institution.

“The visit is expected to further strengthen the partnership between the Federal Government and the Anambra Government.

“This will advance programmes targeted at poverty reduction, economic empowerment, food security and improved livelihoods,” he said.

Ezeigwe said the visit would provide an opportunity for Anambra residents to benefit directly from the empowerment programme and other interventions scheduled for the first lady’s visit.
