Group backs Ishaku says tribunal judgment will not stand
Justin Facii, Jalingo
Taraba Youth Assembly for Democratic Governance Friday threw its weight behind governor Darius Ishaku, saying the tribunal ruling which nullified his election of would not stand before men and God.
President of the group, Babangida Umar Musa who stated this at a media briefing in Jalingo noted that the ruling has casted shadow of despair on the nation’s democratic journey and must not be allow to stand in any way.
“The judgment was to smuggle the victory given to the PDP by the people through the legal process to ingratiate the APC. Instead of focusing on pure figures, which put the PDP far ahead, the tribunal went into technicalities to subvert the will of the people.
“The issue of Ishaku not being a validly nominated candidate in the election even if it exist, does not dilute the popularity of governor Ishaku. The case of governor Samuel Ortom of Benue state is worse than that of Ishaku, yet he is being favoured because he is in APC.
“Nigerians should watch what is happening in Taraba. This selective justice where other people are considered and favoured while others are being deliberately persecuted is not the change Mr. President promised Nigerians,” he said.
Umar lamented that they have uncover the plot of some moneybags outside the state who are working relentlessly to use their ill-gotten wealth to destabilise Taraba and called on the judiciary not to be pressured in doing the wrong thing.
“Those groups in Taraba and Abuja that jubilated over the tribunal judgment later confessed privately that they were paid to do so. So many people have been misled into believing that Aisha won the election. This notion is wrong.”
The group expressed hope that the Appeal Court will quash the judgment and restore the people’s victory which they overwhelmingly gave Ishaku at the polls, even as they commend the efforts of the governor in restoring peace in the state.
