Cult clash: Activities return to Bwari market in Abuja
Following the crisis that erupted between two cult groups on Christmas Eve in Bwari market area Federal Capital Territory (FCT), market activities has returned to the area, NEWSVERGE gathered.
When NEWSVERGE visited the area, people and traders were seen going about their business without any fear or danger of what might happen.
According to Mr. Yusuf Mohammed, a trader, lamented the lost of traders in the market to the franca.
Mohammed, told NEWSVERGE that those that died after the crisis were more than those that died during the crisis. “A lots of traders committed suicide when they could not bear their lost to the crisis; you know, some of them had money in their shop which was razed to ashes after the infano”. He mentioned.
NEWSVERGE reports that the crises was as a result of disagreement over membership of the group.
Though the identity of the cultists who started the fire was still sketchy till today, but eye witness account said that a member of the cult group who attempted renouncing his membership was stabbed and later rushed to the hospital, but eventually died on Monday morning.
His death, however sparked counter reaction and reprisal attacks that led to the arson of critical business in the town.
Though the FCT Administration has denied tribal and religious colouration to the story, but many believe that the traditional leadership tussle in the town must have led to the crisis.
